Fifty Years With Fifties

With a career in the rail industry that spans over 50 years, British Rail’s former Fleet Manager at Laira Depot (Plymouth) has had a close association with the class 50 locomotives throughout. Geoff will share with us insights into these fascinating locomotives and their operation. During this sure to be fascinating evening he will take us through his personal highlights, supported by audio visuals, following the history of the class from inception through to their final years with BR and into preservation.

All presentations are held in the Roundhouse lecture theatre commencing at 19.30 and finishing between 21.45 and 22.00. Doors open at 19.00.

Entry is via the Commercial entrance (electric gate), which is open between approximately 19.00 and 19.25 to allow a prompt start at 19.30.

Presentations are held on the third Thursday of every month unless otherwise indicated.

Hot and cold drinks are available from the buffet before 19.30 and during the interval.

Admission is normally £3.00 for members and £5.00 for non-members.
