Barrow Hill Roundhouse Presents…A Celebration of 200 Years of Railways
Celebrating 200 years of the Railway with a star-studded line up of locomotives from the steam and diesel/electric eras.

Starring the world-famous A3 60103 “Flying Scotsman” courtesy of the National Railway Museum and Northern Steam Operations, on display on Friday 10th October and hauling trains on our Springwell branch line on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12thOctober. Supported by former Roundhouse resident steam locomotive Peckett 2000, returning especially for this event.
Also starring Deltic 55 009 “Alycidon”, hauling trains on Friday 10th October.
Many other exhibits including steam, diesel, electric and bi-mode locomotives, other rail vehicles and steam rollers.
All exhibits appear subject to availability and commercial requirements.
Train rides, brake van rides, cab visits and a walk around 200 years of railway history – get up close to our historic steam locomotives, classic diesels from the British Railways era and the latest state-of-the-art locomotives operating on today’s railway.
Watch the World Premiere of “I am George Stephenson”, a play created by the young people of Graves Youth Theatre in Sheffield and Paul Whitfield – THIS IS SOLD OUT!
Lots of food and drink options from the Roundhouse Café and our food vendors, including a Bar!
A half-hourly shuttle bus service between Chesterfield railway station and Barrow Hill Roundhouse, operating between 0930 and 1630 each day.
Plenty of free car parking.
